Round 3 of the best playoff series tournament:2012

The lockout year! Year 2 of the Big 3 version of the Heat. East playoffs took a hit when Derrick Rose blew his ACL in game 1 of their series with Philly. Knicks lost Baron Davis and Iman Shumpert to knee injuries. Chris Bosh got hurt and missed games. However, we still got 3 good series and the Heat advanced to their 2nd straight finals.

Out West, OKC reached their peak and got to the Finals. They had to knock off the Spurs, who were in the middle of what could’ve been the goat playoff run but they crashed and burned. Memphis and the LA Clippers played the first of a couple meetings in the playoffs. Lakers and the Clippers almost blew 3-1 leads in the first round. Anyway....

Eastern Conference Finals: (2) Miami vs (4) Boston (Miami wins 4-3)

Heat vs Celtics for the 3rd straight year. Lebron vs the Celtics for the 3rd straight year. Both teams held serve through the first 4 games. Boston stole game 5 on the road. Then Lebron had arguably his best playoff performance in Game 6 on the road in Boston(45pts 15rebs 5ast). Miami won game 7 to move on.

Easter Conference Semis: (2) Miami vs (3) Indiana (Miami wins 4-2)

First of 3 straight years these 2 teams would matchup in the playoffs. Indiana was the main competition out east during Miami’s finals runs. In this particular series, Indiana stole homecourt and even led 2-1 after 3 games. Game 4 Bron dropped 40 and 18 rebs to tie the series. Game 5 was a blowout. Game 6 D Wade led the way with 41 pts and 10 ast to close it out. Chris Bosh got hurt in game 1 and missed the rest of the series.





 
Eastern Conference Semis: (8) Philadelphia vs (4) Boston (Boston Wins 4-3)

Philly “upset” Chicago in the first round largely due to Rose getting got by the knee collector. However they ended up pushing Boston to 7 games being led by Jrue Holiday, young Iggy, and Elton Brand(remember that nigga?)

Western Conference Finals: (1) San Antonio vs (2) Oklahoma City (OKC wins 4-2)

San Antonio had swept through the first 2 rounds of the playoffs and won the first 2 games in this series. OKC blew the Spurs out in game 3 and didn’t look back. Harden was crucial off the bench in this series.




 
Western Conference 1st round: (4) Memphis vs (5) LA Clippers (LAC wins 4-3)

Underrated short lived rivalry between these 2. Clips were the lower seed but took a 3-1 series lead before blowing the next 2 games and had to win a game 7 on the road to advance.





 
Western Conference 1st round: (3) LA Lakers vs (6) Denver (LAL wins 4-3)

Ron Artest was serving 7 game suspension for all but 1 game in this series. Lakers were up 3-1 in the series. Before game 5 Andrew Bynum said “close out games are easy.” Lakers blew the next 2 games before closing it out at home.
