Nah snoop and dre were already working together. The company needed the song for the Deep Cover soundtrack and dre/snoop hadn't finished it yet. They were on a conference call wanting to hear the song so dre played the beat and snoop started freestyling to the beat and they (company) fucked with it.
 
Yeah I heard that Dre was at a meeting with the people from the Deep Cover movie. He called Snoop on the phone and told him the plot of the movie and told him to write a rhyme and he'd call back in 15 minutes on speaker phone with radio execs listening. And the rest is history.
 
Dre and Snoop 1st song they ever rexorded together was an unreleased song snoop had called "Gangstas Life"

I was just looking for it 2 days ago but couldnt find it.
