AEW Dynamite Trounces WWE NXT In Seventh Straight Ratings Win

AEW Dynamite moved to 7-0 in head-to-head competition with WWE NXT in the Wednesday Night Wars in a battle that was nowhere near as close as last week.

AEW garnered 957,000 viewers—up 16% from 822,000 last week. AEW was No. 5 for the night in the Cable Top 150 in the 18-49 demographic. Coming off its best number since its debut, WWE NXT tumbled all the way down to No. 22 for the night among the 18-49 demographic while drawing 750,000 viewers. This number is down eight percent compared to 813,000 from last week.

Last week, WWE NXT viewership closed in on AEW Dynamite in a big way with a razor-thin decision as just 9,000 viewers separated the two shows. The viewership numbers for both shows—with WWE NXT surging while AEW fell well below the one-million-viewer threshold it had established through its first four weeks—was further evidence of AEW and NXT pulling from the same pool of fans rather than each promotion having its own unique fanbase. This same dynamic played out this week, with AEW’s viewership surging by 16% while WWE NXT declined to below 800,000 viewers.

AEW “Bash At The Beach” Announced In Conjunction With Jericho’s Cruise


WCW’s classic event Bash at the Beach is coming back – only this time it’s being done under the AEW banner in conjunction with Chris Jericho’s cruise.



The press release from All Elite Wrestling explains:

AEW today announced “Bash at the Beach,” an unprecedented, nine-day experience for superfans that features two Dynamite shows, a cruise onboard Chris Jericho’s tricked-out party ship, and non-stop entertainment in between.
The adventure begins on Wednesday, Jan. 15, when AEW Dynamite takes over the Watsco Center at the University of Miami for a Bash at the Beach themed episode, and continues with Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea, sailing round-trip from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas, on Jan. 20-24.

High-octane bouts with the biggest names from AEW will be filmed from Jericho’s sold-out Norwegian Pearl ship, including the Jan. 22 episode of Dynamite on TNT. The history-making event will be bubbling with exclusive opportunities to meet AEW’s star-studded roster, as well as non-stop wrestling, rock ‘n’ roll, live podcasts, paranormal explorations, talent-hosted activities, autograph sessions, parties and more.

WCW’s Bash at the Beach began in 1994 and lasted until 2000.

As you’ll recall, Jericho’s first foray into the cruise business took place in 2018. The event featured ROH talent wrestling in matches, including members of The Elite.

“AEW’s Bash at the Beach events will deliver nine unforgettable days of wrestling and much more from the hottest company in the business today,” Chris Jericho stated in the press release. “Thousands of the Friends Of Jericho onboard the SOLD OUT ‘Rock N Wrestling Rager At Sea’ will have the experience of their lives, and now millions more will be able to watch AEW Dynamite along with us, as we break out the bubbly together from Miami to the Bahamas.”

Tickets for the Jan. 15 Bash at the Beach show in Miami go on sale this Friday, Nov. 22.
