Why take a long two when you can take a step back to take a shot that's worth 1 more point which changes the profile of your shot selection and keeps the defense around the perimeter

It's crazy to see the midrange game basically disappear, but it makes sense. Look back at MJ and Kobe clips. Them dudes was lethal from the midrange, but they regularly had to pump fake, jab step, lean back, and fade away to get a shot over potentially two or more people. It's much easier and more efficient to take a long ass three with barely a hand in your face which is what we see now.
