A 2nd American Civil War?

1. A war fought between factions of the inhabitants of a single country, or a similar political entity

I was having a chat with a couple of good friends of mine and one came across a podcast called "it could happen here" which talks about crazy scenarios and how they may happen in real life if certain things occur. The one we had a good conversation about today was about the possibility of another American Civil War. In the link listed below is the podcast.

To sum up the podcast, the speaker pontificates that with how devided a mass majority of the country has become over their political leanings and how aggressive people are with voicing their views things are very tense around the country.

He pointed out the rise in politically motived violence, gun and ammunition purchases, and some what dangerous rhetoric spewed by left and right wing followers and how it could play a part in starting a 2nd civil war.

I know most will avoid this thread but I found the topic interesting and would like to hear the opinions of some of the intelligent individuals here.

Yeah man.. at 1st I kinda laughed it off when my friend brought it up but after checking the clear cut definition and just servaying the landscape he and this guy has a point.

The worse thing about all of this is the fact that the president has a few times in a round about way consigned violent behavior to people who exercise their 1st amendment right to protest not to mention the NRA spokesperson putting out very irresponsible rhetoric and protest groups on the left being more aggressive

It seems like people on both sides don't want to have conversations, they just want to find confirmation in what they think they already know

That was the 1st thing I told my homie about it not being a civil war. Of course in the military you have just as many people who feel strongly about either side of the political spectrum but there are a decent amount of checks and balances that hopefully can quell a mass mutiny.

Trust me I've met a ton of very colorful (to put it kindly) people in the military who openly (eventhough good supervisors can nip that in the bud) at work try to voice and discredit others political view points. Their shouldn't be a place for that in any work place, unless the job is In a political field.

Idk....I just see more and people as pussy and not really about the shit that they talk. The only area of the country I can see this being somewhat of a thing is the south cuz theres enough guns that belong to enough stupid people. I dont feel like the middle flyover states would care enough since they dont interact with anybody nonwhite too much so they wouldn't have nobody to fight against.

Trump being impeached or not getting re- elected was one of the podcast narratives. Of course we know now he isn't getting kicked out of the oval office but you still have a decent amount of his supporters who will try and say it's a conspiracy if he loses when he runs again.

I agree with most people's sentiments on this site that the chances of another civil war occurring are slim to none but I could see a rise in home grown terrorist groups and at the most extreme martial law.
