Classic year for hip hop or nah?

What album(s) stood out the most in your opinion and why?

For me...Clue and Redman.

Even before Jay, 'Kast and Lauryn made history in '98, tha year was on it's way to being classic. No Nas release, no strong West Coast release, but still classic year. Def Jams 'Survival of the Fittest' (DMX, Def Squad and Onyx) series was dope. Even singles were great. Rap City Top 10 kept you plugged in. Great year!

To name a small few...

 

[Goldie]

One of the Goat years of hiphop. DMX controlled the year. Jay and Lauryn Hill were close 2nds. U can easily argue Hill had the best year tho.

Looking back now...I kinda slept on some of the album' that dropped that year

Had that DJ Clue joint, but it got stolen on a field trip along with all of my other albums I had started collecting from 7th gr - 12th gr. I'm still salty bout this.

Really fun year in hip hop.
