The Weeknd Cuts Ties With H&M After Racist Ad

H&M recently became a trending topic after one of their ads was released with a young black boy wearing a hoodie that said “coolest monkey in the jungle”. For any of us without the least bit of knowledge of this world’s recent history, we know monkey , specifically porch monkey, was a racist term redneck white people would use for black people. I actually see some people, including Charlamagne who rightfully fave H&M donkey of the day, but he said that H&M’s staff were probably ignorant to the fact that the ad they made could be offensive. Charlamagne’s smarter than that. That ad was made on purpose. Those type of ads with subtle racism have been made for years. They know what they’re doing, they get paid to do it. The Weeknd realizes that and posted a message on social media today letting everyone know that he’s disturbed by the ad and will no longer work with H&M.
