PRAISE: People slowly but surely become furious in this movie which stars Xie Miao as an ordinary man who, with journalist Navin's (Joe Taslim) help, fights a criminal empire to rescue his kidnapped daughter (Yang Enyou [zh]). High praise to everyone involved in the fight choreography in this movie. Some fight scenes are as creative as they are relentless. A few times i had to say wait a minute did I just see that? There are definitely some action sequences I've never seen in action films before. This movie definitely doesn't have time for long drawn out talky threats and reprimands. Some sequences felt like great nods to Jackie Chan movies and Fist of the Northstar Anime. Theres a completely unhinged moment in the movie that shocked me but I found it highly entertaining and then its as if the director (Kenji Tanigak) i and writers (Mak Tin-shu,Lei Zhilong, Shum Kwan-sin and Frank Hui) said oh your enjoying this well how about this additional shock? Punches are literally not pulled. A very good and involving action film with a lot of heart.
PROBLEMS: Some of the jumbled action sequences became a bit repetitive.
