It is just to show appreciation. My mom wanted to get as much family together and cook. She just wanted my dad to relax on the sofa.

Father's/mother's day is not for those who just made a child, but for the parents who are involved in the child's/children's life in a positive way.

It all depends on the relationship or lack of one between parent and child, if they are celebrated.

Funny because it wasn't til I was older and really thought about it...if you in a home where the woman does most of the cooking then a packed restaurant on Mother's Day typically means nobody else in the house cooked that day so eating out was the next best option. Kinda fucked up when you think about it lol

Lol well most people actually enjoy being celebrated on their birthdays or other special days so yeah to go out your way to do less would make you seem like an asshole. It's not a zero sum game. Both can be done.

Look who chipped in sounding like a hoe. No surprise there. Just speak for yourself bro. I don't think there are many men out there crashing out if their lady doesn't want to break the bank celebrating Valentine's Day or an anniversary.

And nowhere did I say anything about "going out of your way" to do less. Fuck are you even talking about. I said I prioritize being good to my S/O over pulling out all the stops for select days rather than being subpar on most days and being exceptional on select days.

Calm down nigga. You crashing out over nothing. I never said anybody is upset over the bank not being broke. I said people like to be celebrated. I also said you can treat your s/o great and also do something extra on a special day. You the one who said "I'm probably not doing nothing extra on a special day" and admitted it typically didn't go over well. You overreacting for no damn reason.
