China says it intercepted and forced away a Dutch naval frigate near the disputed Paracel Islands in the South China Sea, accusing the vessel of entering sensitive waters and airspace without permission. Beijing claimed the Dutch warship repeatedly launched a helicopter that entered Chinese airspace, prompting the PLA to deploy naval and air forces, issue warnings and use electronic interference measures. The confrontation unfolded during Chinese live-fire drills near the Philippines and comes amid broader tensions over the South China Sea, trade disputes involving semiconductor company Nexperia, and Dutch restrictions on ASML chipmaking equipment exports to China.

22 people dead

Witnesses to a hotel fire in the Indian capital say several guests jumped out of windows to escape the flames.
Authorities in New Delhi are investigating the cause of the blaze that killed 22 people, including 18 foreign nationals.

More than 600 people have been left homeless after a fire swept through a densely populated neighbourhood in Kemayoran, central Jakarta. Hundreds of homes were destroyed in the blaze, which broke out on Monday night and rapidly spread through the area, forcing residents into emergency shelters.
Authorities deployed more than 30 fire trucks and over 100 personnel to bring the fire under control. Investigators are still working to determine the cause, though early indications suggest it may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit.
Displaced residents are now staying in temporary shelters where they are being provided with food, water and clothing, while others return to the site to search through the debris for belongings.
The fire highlights the recurring risk in Jakarta’s densely populated settlements, where closely packed housing and electrical faults often contribute to large-scale blazes.

Switzerland’s voters decide on Sunday whether to cap their population at 10 million people, alarming many businesses who fear an economic blow should the proposal succeed.

Switzerland recently held a referendum on a proposal to limit the country's population to 10 million, which was narrowly rejected by voters with a 55 to 45 percent margin. The proposal, primarily backed by the right-wing Swiss People's Party, aimed to restrict immigration amid concerns about space and sovereignty. Bloomberg News Switzerland Economy/Government reporter Bastian Benrath-Wright joins David Gura and Christina Ruffini on Bloomberg This Weekend to give insight to the proposal and it's rejection.

The measure failed
55 percent no
45 percent yes

The U.S. has long used sanctions as a weapon—now Cuba is paying the price. Blackouts are widespread, and the UN warns lives are at risk.

United States sanctions on 30 countries

In Brazil, Eduardo Bolsonaro has been sentenced to four years in prison. The third son of former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro was found guilty of pressuring US officials to impose economic sanctions on his own country. It was a bid to influence his father’s Supreme Court trial — with the elder Bolsonaro currently serving a 27-year sentence for a failed coup attempt in 2022.

He should of gotten a life sentence for trying to undermind Brazil , treasonous

Donald Trump has declared Sir Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister after failing to tackle the migrant crisis.

In a post on Truth Social, the US President also took aim at Sir Keir over his refusal to open up the North Sea to new oil licences.

He said: "Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He failed badly on two very important subjects - Immigration and energy (open North Sea oil). I will him well!"

Sir Keir, who will likely secure his place in history as Labour's shortest-serving Prime Minister, is expected to announce his plan to step down as soon as tomorrow.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce his resignation on Monday, June 22, 2026, following overwhelming pressure from within his own Labour Party and a decisive by-election victory for his rival, Andy Burnham. Reports indicate Starmer has concluded his position is no longer tenable and plans to set out a timetable for an orderly exit, potentially handing over leadership by September.

Mounting internal pressure played a critical role in this decision, with over 100 Labour MPs reportedly calling for his departure and senior cabinet ministers advising him to step down to prevent further party division. The situation escalated after Burnham won a parliamentary seat in Makerfield, positioning him to launch a formal leadership challenge that many in the party believe he would win.

External commentary intensified the speculation, particularly after US President Donald Trump declared on social media that Starmer "will resign" due to failures on immigration and energy policy. While Starmer had previously vowed to fight any leadership contest, allies now suggest he recognizes the "game is up" and aims to ensure a smooth transition rather than face a damaging internal battle.

Muthafuckas (looking at you UK) paid 21B in today's money to slave owners for slavery abolishment, but cry at owing Africa and Caribbean... I agree with Macron in the article of it doesn't have to be all money, but damn if wells, farm equipment, better hospitals and equipment, roads and other infrastructure, and turning loose the holds on mineral resources at best or at worse the proper financial payments for using and gutting the land or at middle having a partnership in the various precious resources gathering...
