First off... fuck Stephen A (for asshole) Smith and anybody who luv em.

Second the priority should be to have the best basketball players on the planet on NBA courts. If that leads to a few more white players from europe or even canada so what if it leads us to more wembys, Giannis' and sga's? There have always been great white basketball players around. There were more white players around in the past and basketball was less popular and less profitable so what Stephen A is saying is just some ragebait for views.

Ehh this definitely isn't ragebait this time. KD called this out right before the all star break and it's been a brewing sentiment among Black basketball fans for a minute now. And yes you can see in how Black American athletes vs even non American Black athletes are covered. Just look at Shai. Him just being from Canada he gets lumped in with European players and his critiques of his game are centered around that. Or even with a player like Chet when people find out he's not from Europe how they change how he's talked about. Shit you had people openly rooting against team USA basketball here in the US

Im not understanding what you're trying to convey? Are you saying shai gets criticized less because he's from Canada or more? And you have to give me specific examples of how chet is talked about differently because he's not from europe.

Also I do agree with KD there is a subtext in that rhetoric that is shitting on black american players I just don't agree with Stephen A that the nba is on some sort of mission to whiten the league through globalization. Thats a shit take and not what KD was even talking about.

The bold is what I was referring to which is why I started by saying KD is right in his assessment. The whole white NBA star and whether or not that's needed thing has also been a topic thats been on going for a long ass time too. And many, both white and black commentators, have said they think some criticism of American players is due to the lack of a white superstar.


But as for stuff like comments about Shai, just look at when people criticize AAU ball, which does deserve some of it, and say thats why American players "aren't as good or disciplined" meanwhile the current league MVP played AAU ball just not in the US. They use players like Shai to try and downplay the Black American players.

Shai the same "free throw merchant" shai? You have to show me actual examples of these things happening cause I haven't seen it.
