OUT NOW Drake - ICEMAN

Added to Calendar: 05-15-26

I won’t be listening to this at all because I’m not a Drake fan and I’m just congregating just because

But as time has went on a few things have been made pretty clear:

1. Drake runs the culture

I know people don’t want to accept this and want to deny it because they hate him, (I used to too but now I’m just indifferent) but he absolutely does. The hiphop ecosystem thrives the most when he’s actively involved

2. Most of you guys sound corny in here hating and most of you sound corny constantly posting about stuff that don’t have nothing to do with the music

3. Drake did something really cool with releasing 3 albums, he created an event in music

Last thing, he really showed the difference between him and a guy like Cole who could never command hiphop like Drake or Kendrick

Drake the 2nd biggest superstar in rap history after Kanye

Just some unbiased objective thoughts

Proceed..

I respect this take and goat stamped just slightly disagree with the Kanye part

In a perfect world, yes, Drake is 2nd to Kanye West. But Kanye fucked that up so badly. He cannot command this type of response as of today and probably never will after all the antics during the last 2-3 years

Hear me out....after listening through all 3, I got a handful to go back to, the "Make them" series really his bar. He need to keep that as his baseline. Lyrically though, I hear a nigga thats fiending for affection lmao

Sidenote, y'all killed big sean over that Dubai line, but when Drake do it, its lyricism huh lmao.

You can really tell when he puts in effort, he just dont really like to put in effort. Some heat on here, but a lot of mid on here. Real mid, not wack shit. Just a lot of meh shit. And Drake too cold to have albums full of meh type shit.

It’s cool we don’t need to bring Kanye into this thread but Drake has long term longevity over Kanye simply due to kanye being volatile for the entire length of Drake’s career but at the same time Drake could not get away with what Kanye has done and still be relevant

But just my opinion

wachu mean too much work? His fanbase gon rock with him regardless.. wtf he need a deal for?

If tech n9ne can do it and BEEN doing it all these years, surely with his connections and fanbase he can do the same independently
I don't think he's incapable of going independent or needs a deal its just at the rate he can recoup its easier to just deal with the label at his level. There's a lot of infrastructure you have to create and maintain to do it at the level he does it. At this point in his career thats a headache.

Like I've said in other posts he's gonna be looking for equity wherever he ends up, if that doesn't materialize yes I can see him saying fuck it and going independent.

I hope he goes the independent route honestly. Fuck them labels. They been screwing artists over for forever

I agree with some points.

I can’t say Drake runs the culture anymore. There was a time when I believed it, but I can’t anymore.

What we’ve learned in the past 2-years - since Not Like Us dropped - is the culture is just fine without him. Yes, it’s arguably most exciting when he’s around, but he’s not the anchor he used to be, just like Kanye isn’t. I feel he lost what he did best when he tried you be a tuff rapper instead of making good music. Not everything were misses, but the combo singing Drake was peak sound for him.

Even with that said, he had a helluva stretch that may not ever be repeated and the stretch can only be compared to Kanye’s or Wayne’s.

Drake is 40 or about to be. We’re the same age, but some of his antics are growing old along with him. He’s not the only one - Budden. Niggas gotta grow up a little. Even CB has matured a lot.

I wish he would’ve did the opposite of what he’s done and brought back that Take Care or NWTS sound instead of this. Not saying all the songs are bad. It’s just not what I personally hoped for.

It’s been 2 years. Nothing he can say or do can change shit. Let that old shit go and put out a fuckin summer anthem I can watch these hoes’ titties bounce to, nigga damn!
