I've been said this. Both goat level albums but hip hop has bullied us into believing that Illmatic is the Holy Grail of Rap. People shit on IWW bcuz Nas changed his subject matter.

IWW was my first intro to a full Nas album and has some of my fav all time Nas songs but I'd still have to go with Illmatic. It's an indisputable classic.
 
Easily Illmatic...

IWW is also a classic but the only way I can see an argument for IWW is if you are bored of playing Illmatic for the 100000000th time...
 
I always liked IWW more; it’s definitely my favorite Nas album. At the same time I love Illmatic….. I wouldn’t argue with anyone calling it the GOAT album.

But if I had to choose I’m 100% going with IWW.
 
As an old man, it’s crazy to see how the opinions on iww have changed over the years. I liked it as a worthy successor to illmatic instantly, but i recall most ppl felt it was a let down.

Then after ether, ppl were saying it was underrated. And now ppl call it a classic or better than illmatic.

Just interesting to see that develop over time

I voted illmatic but i can see how ppl say iww, especially ppl 35 and under
 
IWW is an darker and expanded version of ill. So if you're more into an edgier sequel, I can see you liking it more. As a project, it doesn't flow better than Illmatic overall.
