Breaking News US and Israel War Against Iran

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran’s parliament, on Sunday accused the United States of engaging in a front of diplomacy while “secretly planning a ground invasion.” An expeditionary force of 2,500 U.S. Marines arrived in the Middle East on Saturday, marking a new escalation in the conflict.

In a defiant statement carried by state media marking the 30th day of the war, Ghalibaf said Iran’s forces were “waiting for American soldiers to enter on the ground so they can set them on fire.”

Ghalibaf described the American 15-point plan to end the war as an attempt to achieve by diplomacy what the United States “failed to achieve in war.” He said that Iran would not accept “humiliation” or surrender, adding, “We are certain we can punish America and make it regret ever considering an attack on Iran.”

So much winning

A senior Democratic lawmaker said that classified briefings from the Trump administration have outlined no clear plan of action for how it intends to eliminate the threat posed by the Iranian government, a stated objective of the president and his Republican allies in Congress since the war began a month ago.

“What are the steps that are going to fundamentally change this regime?” Representative Adam Smith of Washington, the highest ranked Democrat on the Armed Services Committee, said on “Fox News Sunday.” He added: “We’ve paid an enormous cost to basically somewhat reduce the threat from Iran, not to eliminate it. And we have no plan to actually eliminate it as the costs continue to go up of this war.”

Pakistani officials hosted talks on Sunday with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt, in the country’s latest efforts to mediate the war in the Middle East.

The discussions in Islamabad come as the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran, which began on Feb. 28, shows little sign of abating. The warring parties are not taking part in the talks.
The arrival of 2,500 Marines and another 2,500 sailors is keeping the number of American troops in the Mideast region at over 50,000 — roughly 10,000 more than usual — as President Trump decides on his next step in his month-old war in Iran.

While it is still unclear just what the Marines, from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, will be charged with, U.S. officials say the president is weighing whether to try a larger attack, like venturing to seize an island or other ground as part of Mr. Trump’s effort to open the Strait of Hormuz.
