Do you remember when a rapper became your favorite rapper?

I remember hearing What ya life like and Die

And was like this man got a way with them words and visuals. I never been locked up but i first heard what ya life like with someone who has....and it deeply resonated with him. That added even more value lol. I still remember us all sitting on the floor listening to it

After that it was on like donkey Kong lol. It also led me to become a huge fan of philly hip hop at large

Nas - we had a store called Music Recyclery where u could buy or sell new/used cassettes cds vinyls etc. Picked up It Was Written on cassette for my walkman with some bday money had to be 14 yrs old. I heard Nas singles before that but that was my first full introduction to his music.

Kanye - I was hyped off all the Kanye unreleased mixtape tracks pre college dropout but once the rocafella champions song with Dame n them came out it was a wrap

I was in HS my freshman year, 1996. I was really getting into music heavy my dude let me hear hell on earth and from that day on Prodigy became my favorite rapper.

Jay-Z- Vol.2, been my favorite since.
Gibbs- A Cold Day in Hell.
Budden- Specifically after I heard Dumb Out
