Been re-watching Justice League on Tubi the last few days and I've been reminded of just how grim this shit started off. The introduction to The League had an alien invasion with creatures that would have made HG Wells proud and I'm pretty sure gave young kids nightmares. A whole scene where Martian Manhunter gets tentacles shoved under his skin, including through his chest to his head, in order to kill him, visuals I'm sure traumatized young viewers.
John Stewart being put on trial for killing 3 billion people by accidentally blowing up a whole planet, then sentenced to death along with Flash.
And Aquaman's brother chaining him to a rock along with his newborn son in attempt to kill them both where the only way Aquaman can save them is by chopping off his own hand with the "A" on his belt, then staggers into the palace holding his son with one arm with a stump wrapped in bloody bandages.
Watching the next couple tonight.
