How much different can your partner be from you?

E.G. can y'all have two vastly different opinions on politics to the point where whatever they do doesn't impact you?
 
I can't be with somebody who politics don't align with mine, they will always vote against my interests and vice versa. I can compromise on religion and parenting as long as we speak on the important stuff.
 
I can deal with anyone who's not too extreme in any direction. I like dialogue I like debate. If they too offended to do any of that it's a no go.

Ppl treat politics like a religion.
 
We would need to align on things like morals, finances, and parenting. I could be with a Michael Steele type of Republican, but never a Trump supporter. No religion zealots either. I believe in God, but I don't judge those with a different perspective.
 
Differences are fine... Just not extreme ones..

Like you can't be passionate about something I give no fucks about and vice versa.

This convo stemmed from a chick I was chatting with on Bluesky about Nelly and Ashanti. Is Ashanti, hmmm... Not responsible for Nelly's comments but do you look at her funny?

It can. Most see couples as a unit, so it natural to assume that a couples beliefs are similar. And even if those beliefs differ, it can be awkward going against your spouse publicly.
 
I’m not political whatsoever. I even cringe when people wanna speak politics to me so I definitely couldn’t be with someone who is super into politics. It wouldn’t work.

Now, if he’s into it, but doesn’t have to talk about it all the time, we could probably work.

She must support his stance. It may not be a deal breaker for her.
 
I see people taking it out on her. I don’t think she necessarily deserves the backlash because of what her husband chose to do. However, I understand it.
 
I couldnt and wouldnt. Be friends with anyone significantly opposed to my world view so being with someone is not even a possibility
