I think the tv stand isn’t the issue fully. It’s how bare it looks and the wall. You need some books.

I was also thinking a large faux plant where the broom is.
Artwork above the TV since you don't want to mount it.
Maybe a large blanket basket under the light switch, get a blanket or 2 in navy, baby blue, or cream to bring the color of your pillows to the other side of room.
Add a couple more books and use your parents decor in the TV stand
