In the first scene of this joint they show him getting the defibrillator in the hospital and he's not dead. Then they play on the whole life flashing before your eyes thing

It's great to hear Dexter's this is what I'm really thinking voice over again. Also to see more of his origin and family life and some of the characters from the original series from back in the day im not fully onboard yet. It feels like something is missing but hopefully that feeling will fade with the next episodes.
