NBA Ratings Drastically Down This Year, Every Other Sports League Ratings Is Up

Some of you gotta realize changes they're making now like the play in, nba cup, bright jerseys and courts etc are not for us it's for our kids sitting next to us watching now. Same way we got hooked back in the day they are trying to hook kids now.

They know most of us aren't going anywhere and will find a way to watch whether it's on cable or streaming. We locked in. Where we gonna go?

They gotta renew the target audience tho cause Jared McCain is some lil kids og now.

It's not about what we want anymore.

When I saw YNs like Carmelo s son saying Paul George his goat

I knew something wasn’t going right

This ain’t got nothing to do w nothing but abolish players podcasts during the season

Especially injured players I’m looking at PG

Yep

Like when the NFL did the Nickelodeon wild card games that had a different presentation. I thought that was really cool and wish they went back to that for a select few games in the playoffs

How much?
$30 a month is fair during the season. I personally would pay more. I love the game. With maybe an option to pay extra for a dvr package. Hell they could even make it an all year channel and funnel all licensed content through it such as podcasts, the draft, trade and free agency rumors, international hoops, live G-League games, throwback games and highlights etc. Why are we having to go to Netflix and Prime to watch NBA docs?

When the league was at its highest. Stern was on his "The NBA Is Fantastic" shit. Pumping out player and team docs on video tapes and we all grew up watching that shit. Now we can move all that shit to the NBA channel, focus on new players etc. and continue to grow the game.

Still hilarious that no one wants to watch the “ most skilled generation “
The 2000’s had so many personalities and larger than life figures. Outside of a few players most are introverted. The so called best player being a fat Euro in Denver who rather be in Europe with his horses.

The 2000s didn't have that many personalities.

Only big national personalities in 2000s was AI and Shaq and that didn't last long. AI was called a loser that didn't play the right way and Shaq got ran out of LA for being a lazy fat ass. AI was known for more than his style of play and look than what he said off the court.

By the 2000s, Kobe went from the wonder boy to the annoying whining overachiever.

Gilbert was only a budding internet sensation.

KG was stuck in Minnesota.

Lebron and Carmelo just got started.

Tracy McGrady was getting roasted for not getting out of the first round.

Tim Duncan was considered boring.

People look at the 2000s NBA with rose colored glasses of a young adult or child. Most of the stars were unlikeable and was receiving negative press 24/7. It was like the late 70s, early 80s NBA when half the players were drug addicts. People wanted a Jordan figure to rally around and the NBA was promoting the one man shows around the league that got hate for not being like Jordan.

The 2000s, more kids were interested in AND1 players than NBA stars and copying their moves.

The 2000’s didn’t have personalities except AI and Shaq? That’s a ridiculous take.

Also, the universe was smaller. Comparatively, people have so much more access to alternative streams of entertainment. During the 2000s people were still renting DVDs and watching music video countdown shows. Both of these things are beyond dust today, so I'm not sure why people still look at TV ratings as indicator of what's popular.

How many experts didn't see YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok coming along as platforms for revenue? (On a global scale as well) Too many is the answer, and they work for Cable and TV companies.

The NBA didn't have personalities that had national reach besides AI and Shaq.

The NBA was more regional and team centric.

You think people gave a damn about the personality of Baron Davis? Baron Davis is funny as hell but nobody cared about him.

You think the Lamar Odom, Darius Miles LA Clippers was a big thing?

Like I said, y'all romanticizing the hell out of the 2000s NBA when it was the NBA at its most unpopular.

There are more national personalities now than back then.

Nobody gave a fuck what any Timberwolf had to say and an Anthony Edwards interview is a must see after the game.

Nobody gave a damn about what is going on in Memphis and Ja Morant had the entire country on lock for a year.

Jimmy Butler became a sensation.

Y'all act like the 2000s NBA wasn't on its deathbed and was scrambling to find a replacement to MJ's Bulls and all it found was AI and they didn't like that image.

Hot Sauce mattered more to basketball culture than anybody other than AI at the time. Let's keep it real.
