I've never seen this many hip hop fans try to play both sides like this before.
UMG is in negotiations with Drake on a very lucrative deal. If they used anything to to shift influence in Kendricks favor and used any tactic to discredit Drake then that's foul and that's not anything worth the amount of backlash it is receiving.

Two rappers are battling.
They both work for the same label.
One of the rappers is negotiating the biggest music deal in history with the label.
One rapper is having his songs and lyrics being used as a catalyst by the label to disparage the other rapper who is negotiating with the label.
The harder the label goes at influencing one rapper (Kendrick) the better their negotiating stance is with the other rapper (Drake).
If the roles were reversed, niggas would be trying to rally the entire music industry to get behind Kendrick Lamar especially. Can you imagine if Kendrick Lamar was taking on the biggest music label in the industry considering Kendrick's music and content?

This is what I was talking about when I said that this beef was hijacked by corporation. Remember when I posted about Not Like Us being played as the outro on the pre game show and niggas said so what like corporations willingly jump into rap beef that already had some very serious and very personal back and forth.
I told niggas that NLU will have to get cleaned up in order to take off because the lyrical content had too much vulgar shit like the pedophile lines and niggas thought that it was funny and laughed at it.
Niggas didn't find it weird how all of these corporate accounts were chiming in on this rap beef in particular and this specific song?
I called it out in real time when I said that there's way too much excitement and engagement for NLU considering the actual song lyrics. There's a reason why Hit Em Up was never made to be a corporate song track and why you don't hear Stay Strapped playing in the background when games go to commercial.
Yet somehow........Not Like Us was the one song to break through that fourth wall to the point where there were viral videos of literal kids laughing and dancing to it.
Do niggas not see how ridiculous it is to say that the only reason why people are vibing to the song is because they like it? No nigga. The label push, or corporate push that niggas love to bring up when a nigga they like is being done wrong was in full effect and because it was Drake as the recepient and the one who is pointing it out, niggas are still letting it slide................

Drake isn't suing Kendrick. he's suing the label that THEY BOTH WORK FOR because the label attempted to inflate Kendrick in order to devalue Drake.

Why would Drake care if he loses in a battle to Kendrick if he still gets his record breaking deal with UMG? Drake wins even if he loses. You see that?
The only scenario where Drake loses is if UMG tries to manipulate Drake's perception in order to devalue him while they are negotiating with him. That's why he's suing them. They saw a situation where Drake was going to win regardless and they attempted to knock him down and he caught em.
