So how are most people retiring??

So ever since I thought about joining the military recently I've been thinking about retirement.

The military seems to have the best pension/retirement package I've seen so far. All you gotta do is stay in for 20 years and you'll receive your pension. I've met multiple older black men that were military retired since I worked at my local VA hospital for a short period. Most of these guys either spend their days chilling or start another career just to pass time. Retired military officers from what I've seen tend to be doing way better than retired enlisted.

So outside of the military how do most civilians plan on retiring?? I've seen way to many old people working at Walmart, fast food establishments, driving Uber, or at the airport for shit wages. I even met multiple old people while I was working as a security guard.

Do a lot of skill tradesmen have pension plans with the companies they work with?

Will most Americans have to work until their 70s just to survive??

I know a decent amount of old people rely on social security but those checks look small AF.

That's the one thing I'm scared of. I do alot of freelance work and that doesn't come with a pension down the road. Gonna be working till I'm 70. Smmfh.

Personally I'd want to try and figure out a way to save up 3 to 4 mill. Just so by the time I'm like 50, i can live off 50 - 100k for the rest of my life.

Out of the country somewhere where I’m treated best and my money is more maximized, Lord allowing. Well at least that’s my plan.

Its pretty simple. I was just asking how do most people plan on retiring??
Yea, I get that, but the thread started off by saying that your’re considering joining the military. Which means that you’re fairly young. It’s really odd that someone young is considering retirement.

I would think normal people save for retirement with a 401k or IRA

Some invest money as well

What do you mean how do regular people plan for retirement outside the military?

Shiit the thought of being able to financially retire after 20 years of work seems dope AF.

"I would think normal people save for retirement with a 401k or IRA"

I've only seen folks in white collar professions talk about this. Hence why I got curious.

Makes me wonder if most working class individuals are even thinking about retirement.

For non-government or military workers, there's 401Ks and Roth-IRAs.

Pensions are mostly dead.

You have to plan and fund your own retirement now. Employers don't hand hold you to the finish line.

Working until I can't. Blew through my 401k to keep a roof over our heads, lights and gas on, and food on the table when we first moved to Vegas.

I got some ideas on getting it back up tho, we'll see how it pans out in the next 10 years.

This nigga said the military for 20 years lmaooo you really want to hang around a bunch of sweaty ass niggas for the rest of your life?. Get with the times my nigga. Buy as much Bitcoin as possible and win.

But bitcoin is too expensive.

It was only 16k exactly 2 years ago. Even if you make 50k a year the last 5 years thats 250k you've made lmao what are you goofies doing with your money? Quit buying starbucks all day and get your pape up.
