2024/2025 College Basketball/Prospects Thread

Season starts today, let me do some University of Houston propaganda. Will try to get to some games this season. We dont have a 5-Star like Jarace Walker was, but this might be the deepest team we have had under Sampson (Well, Terrance Arceneaux was a 5-star and is back from his injury. Hopefully his shot is better).

Once the season starts, our goal is to Make 'Em Say Uhh.......







 


I didn’t do a dive into the team yet but it’s weird to watch them without Kolek and Ighodaro because it’s all I really know as I didn’t start really watch games until the year after markus Howard (crazy I missed it)

But idk if I’m prepared for a team where I believe Kam Jones is the best player but he’s not bad

It’ll be interesting to see who pops

P5 out 2 months min. Wendell going to be out for a long stint. These last two games without them we’ve looked as bad as the Wiz

By the time P gets back it will be to late and if god forbid we suffer another injury to a key player we’re really cooked. Might make a late push for the play in but that’s probably the best case scenario at this point.

The only way to save the season is for our FO to make an uncharacteristic mid season blockbuster trade. The last significant in season trade we’ve made was for Fultz and that was 5 years ago.

Man. I guess from the outside I thought u guys were deep enough to hang around the 7-8 spots till Banchero comes back. Especially in the East.

Dude, if u guys somehow get a high lottery pick, one of those top PGs in this class would be perfect. I might just move to Orlando if Dylan Harper becomes a Magic.

Jarace is my boy (UH!!!!!!!). I voiced concerns about his game pre draft which u interpreted as hate.

The stat stuffing is expected, he did similar in college. BUT, dude shot 34% from the field and 18% from three. That is not good at all.

Yea, my concerns still remain. Still rooting for my boy though.

@Suckio Andretti stop with that mismanagement shit, I warned u this might happen. @Freeman might be right, maybe he is just not good enough.

Jarace is so stiff sometimes. I think he is getting overrated on defense.

The passing is good, But right now, it’s mostly flashes. Don’t think it’s good enough for any team to give him the opportunity to use it in the NBA like Draymond. Jalen Johnson on the Hawks was 10 times the passer in college and even he does not get that opportunity.

His shooting too is suspect. Don’t buy it at all.

For a supposedly “High floor “ player, so so much in his game needs to improve.

Everything I said about Jarace is from a pure defensive standpoint

He could give nothing offensively and still be a better option than obi toppin

He has not been given the proper chance to develop. I can understand if he did and just underperformed but that’s not the case

That’s what I thought but if these last two games are any indication of things to come then we’re in for a shit show. We don’t have the fire power to keep up with most teams despite our elite defense.

Harper probably a stretch. I’ll settle for Riley/Kaspar/Boogie. I’d even throw in the Nuggets pick + assets(Cole/Jett/Wendell) to make it happen.

Ok, this is my last pushback, lol. U guys played against 2 of the best teams in the NBA, ON THE ROAD. Yea, it was going to be ugly. U will be fine feeding on the minnows in the East.

But I think @Suckio Andretti might be right or u are just a massive pessimist.

That would be true if this draft weren’t as deep as it is. Between our pick and the Nuggets pick(which is looking better by the day) I was content with where ever we landed with the hope that we could be aggressive on draft night. Whether that was trading up or using the assets to trade for a vet.

Losing is one thing but the manner in which we lost those games despite the teams effort leaves me feeling like there is little room for optimism. We don’t even look competitive out there. Teams lose key players all the time but the good/great ones find ways to remain competitive even in a loss.

or

6th seed Magic lose in the first round but get the rights to draft Carter Bryant ???
