FEATURED Quincy Jones dead at 91

test
I recently watched the We Are The World documentary on Netflix...

The number of stars recording that night... Only Q could handle all those egos and personalities

Still lol @ Stevie trying to change the lyrics and his azzz ain't een help MJ or Lionel create the song.

Q/MJ/Lionel should told him to sit his azzz down somewhere. Lol!

Lol @ Bob Dylan lookin confused af the whole time.

Take away the nastiness and tell me he wasn't on the same trajectory for that length of time. All the many written/ production credits across different genres with multiple artist. Not trying to take away from the thread. Just pointing out a peer.
Shit I agree w you but we ll never know

Please R. Kelly and Q cannot be put in the same sentence as contemporaries

Kelly was featured on a Q album in the 90s alongside Babyface .. the two of them were the on-demand RnB producers then

Watching the Quincy doc also on Netflix at the beginning you see Dr. Dre in awe of the plaques, pictures and physical accolades at Q's crib ... Dre is one of the biggest music producers in the world in any genre not just Hip-hop

Quincy Jones was a producer's producer

my favorite Q story is him helping Isaac Hayes win the Academy Awards for the Theme to Shaft

Cuz cacs didn’t want to give it to him as he didn’t write music so according to them he was not a “ composer “

Q stepped in and checked those cacs and made sure Isaac Hayes got his award

Stevie Wonder is up there as a writer / producer

No, he's not. Stevie didn't control the entire production process for other artists like Quincy.

Producers like Quincy are like movie directors.

Singer/Songwriters that make their own music and occasionally write a song shouldn't be up there with someone like Quincy Jones and the other greats.

Quincy didn't write songs. Quincy didn't come up with every note played. He provided organization and vision for entire albums. He had leadership in the studio.

Songwriters and producers that come in and do a couple of tracks shouldn't even rate to someone like Quincy. And that includes superproducers like Timbaland and The Neptunes.

The only peers Quincy had in American music regardless of genre and era are Gamble and Huff, Don Law, Rick Rubin, Dr. Dre, Allen Toussiant and The Corporation.
