OUT NOW Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Added to Calendar: 10-31-24

Watching gameplay now

game looks fun and enjoyable but I think I would compare it to dragon’s dogma 2 too much and even though that had a dog shit story but that was the best exploration/gameplay I played this year

To me majority of negative reviews are form white boys who don’t like the trans option or minorities. And when they say to safe to me Inquisition didn’t really have any bad choices either. First two games to me had more traditional BioWare so it seemed like it was a little more consequence.
And that is the problem that fucks up real criticism which is why I stay away from reviews in general. Those types are the opposite of people like IGN/Kotaku, but all of them bring politics and agendas into gaming. At this point I am just ready to stop playing games as a whole. I do not see the situation getting any better and gaming has not been fun to me outside of Astro Bot.

Oh so far I think the game is solid but I want the experience that I enjoyed with the older games. It was the same with GOW though they still had some brutality and enemy dismemberment.

Imagine this in 4K with better graphics and detail.

OK They started this with Inquisition so no wonder I do not remember it having gore or finishers. All of these issues and the downward spiral of gaming started last generation. They worried about pro nouns and post sex re assign scars which do not bother me, but having the gore/finishers should have been their priority to give us the experience we wanted and enjoyed from the first two games. Not saying the former stopped them from doing the latter, but its clear they did not have their attention on what should have important for this game. Similar situation with Cyberpunk.

Ehh I feel like gore should not be the determining factor if you enjoy a game or not

I think this one was just made to be more widely accessible and consumed whereas the previous Dragon ages were more niche

My biggest gripe personally is this being a BioWare game but there’s not more emphasis on the dialogue tree

And that is the problem. I am an OG fan since the first and if they do not cater to us then do not complain if the game fails. You never played the OGs so you do not understand. That is where the disconnect comes from between the dev in customers. What wide consumption when history has proven that doing that causes games to fail? Trying to change a niche game to none niche has never worked. Changing what we enjoyed about the games is a major issue.

Another issue is the enemy A.I. They enemies only attack me as if my party members do not exist. This type of A.I. in 2024 is inexcusable. Baldur's Gate 3 will continue to steal fans away. I just wish it had this combat and it would be perfect for me, but they know who their audience is which is why the game is a HUGE success instead of trying to cater to a new comer like me. The game got a ton of new fans anyway doing what made the game successful to begin with. Its about more than just the gore as I showed in those videos.

Most likely they will drop patches though. I do feel like the enemies come at me mostly and I can understand why folks don’t like the dialogue choices. I usually play a good character so it won’t hurt me but you need the option to piss people off

OG bioware fans are in the 30s. Of course they're gonna stop making games catered to them and try to capture a new audience.

This shit also had the best opening week of any bioware game.

This shit is a business.

Hate the game or not, idc, but saying aye, spend millions to make a game for the 15 35 year olds that still play games since Origins is wild.

I feel this

I have no history and knowledge of Dragon Age but using myself as an example I never played one but I said I was going to get this at one point so I don’t think it’s entirely bad to have new fans come from the game having a easier barrier of entry but you just have to cater to the older fans and it seems like they didn’t enough which is unfortunate

I heard that about the AI too lol

All in all, it seems like a solid game

Nothing too crazy in either direction which isn’t all that bad

It’s funny because the average age of a gamer is 35 years old

Kids are either not into them as much as our range (due to not having money) or they are more into more social games like the F2P ones

Ayo they blowing this trans thing out of proportion on this game.
let me offer you some advice

You keep bringing up the trans stuff or racist whites’ discourse over the game in here

It would be better if you would insulate it to where it’s not here

You letting people’s agenda overtake the actual game in your discussion of the game

That is how they kinda gain traction and then we stop talking about the game

food for thought

Good point. Pretty much should just ignore and enjoy.

I really wish renting games was a thing again tho. Reviews would not hold much weight if we didn’t have to pay full price for every new game. Or wait for a sell

When buying a game how do you assess if you going to get it?

Pretty much look at YouTube a few times. Or from fellow gamers. I got space marine and ain’t really played it like that
Ahhh okay well anyways enjoy the game

The main reason why I wanted it was to scratch the itch I had from mass effect 1-3 but the dialogue tree/choices and outcomes aren’t really on that level and again this looks like a worse version of dragon’s dogma 2 as far as gameplay so I decided against it

Yea Mass Effect dialogue was legit. People hated Andromeda though. But I got this because I’m a fan of dragon age and I’ll probably get Mass Effect 5

blu ray dont scratch though and digital only does not make sense outside of PC. Someone was banned from PSN unjustly and lost access to their games temporarily.

This is not uncommon and happens more than you think.

Imagine spending thousands in a game digital store and then getting unjustly banned.

Nasty work
