Y'all niggas not tuned in. Lupe's samurai raps ain't moving the culture... everything don't gotta be super lyrical. Have some fucking fun.

Sidebar: Ringtone rap was the WOAT. Niggas was dumbing themselves down for 16bit versions of their own songs.

I knew my nigga Lab was tapped in.

It's funny because half of the people in here probably was dancing to Dior or wasn't outside when that shit was all over the place.

Btw Big Drip a banger too. And Sexy Drill is literally holding down New York right now and all artists from J Cole to others want to be apart of the wave.

Respect Cash Cobain and the slizzys.

Wrong.

You guys seem to forget how it lowered the bar of entry for rap music and changed how labels viewed talent

Ok, the 360 deal caught on in the early 2000's at the same time that Snap music was catching on, but I fail to see how Snap in particular normalized that deal. Maybe those artists were frontrunners in taking those bad deals, but the music had nothing to do with it. That seems like a weird indictment to lodge against the subgenre.

As for the music itself, I'm not sure how it lowered the entry for rap music. Frivolous party music had been around since the 70s and Puff was making commercial bullshit before Snap came along. Snap was popular for like 2 years and had like 5 big songs. It wasn't nearly as big a deal as you're trying to make it.

It essentially lowered the bar for rap music and showed a lot of people that they don’t need to be nice to have a chance to rap, that and trap music? Fucked the game up cuz trap has been the main style of rap for like 20 years

Again, people were selling big numbers with weak bars before Snap. Vanilla Ice existed. Snap was not supposed to be some super lyrical subgenre. It was party music, and party music has always been simplistic. I'm not understanding how you draw the line at Snap as being where that kinda music began.

I'm not understanding how you're drawing the connection between Snap and Trap either. Whether you like or dislike TI, Jeezy, Gucci, etc..., you can't say thier music is as simplistic as Snap. So then what's your beef with Trap? You think it's staying somehow makes it bad automatically?

It's the worst era of NEW YORK hip-hop for sure.

Snap or Horrorcore taking that WOAT title for sure. Should be horrorcore. I get that hip-hop is violent, but there's other shit with it too. Mixing horror films and rhymes has way too short of a shelf life to be taken seriously.
