I tell people all the time that the MCU on a whole calls back to Age of Ultron more than any other flick they've made at this point. As much as people say it's one of the worst MCU flicks, it's basically the most important.

And I happen to really like it.
Can you expound

Have seen this mentioned a bunch of times

Everything stems from this flick: The Sokovia Accords that split the Avengers in Civil War, leaving Cap, Widow, Wanda, and Falcon on the run in Infinity War began as a direct result of AOU; the events of Falcon and the Winter Soldier (which in and of itself takes us into Thunderbolts) also stem from this movie. Vision's whole existence starts in AOU and it's that which leads Thanos to Earth looking for the mind stone which he was in possession of. His "death" at the hands of Thanos also leads into Wandavision, which gave us a super powered Monica Rambeau as well as a psychopathic Wanda hell bent on finding the family she created in her mind (with Vision as her husband) in an alternate universe leading into Multiverse of Madness. Even the name of the move "Avengers: Endgame" is a direct callback to AOU: When Tony and Cap were having a back and forth over Ultron's creation he says "that up there... that's... that's the endgame..." referring to the vision he had thanks to Wanda early in the movie. This is said back to him in Infinity War by Dr Strange "we're in the endgame now", letting Tony know that the vision he had, where he saw everyone dead, was upon them. The end of the movie has Hulk leaving it all behind only to find he was transported to Sakaar a while before Thor Ragnarok begins.

There's more but those are the basics.
