Well he says those plans were for the finale so it wasn't what the season was about anyway just a hook at the end.

They could just be pushing it to season 3. As long as we don't have to wait 2 years for season 3 considering they're pushing back s2 I don't see the issue. They don't have to rush the story. I thought that's what they've been clearly trying to get away from.
