Idk if it's more part of going mainstream as it's because they simply don't spend as much time writing. Cole said it before and any writer will tell you the more you do it the better you get at it. You can tell when a rapper goes from writing rhymes all the time to when they only are writing when they're making a project.
If you more famous and mainstream and working more wouldn’t you have less time to write?

Yeah and it makes sense. You'd have to be very intentional about making time to still work at the craft. But there's also a difference now in the output of artists vs in the past. Before artist would get at least a year or even more to work on an album. So even if you didn't really write between albums during that time you could get back into the groove being in the studio.
Now people are expected to record a project in a week or 2. And you can often hear it in the writing.
Pitbull is a strange one... Like his first album was fire but did it get him famous???
Seems he switched up to become a pop/dance star, then got rich and famous and carried with those tunes until he faded away...
The Pittbull on those first couple albums is nothing like the Pittbull who blew up lol.
