Welcome To aBlackWeb

What's your thoughts on this Aaron Mcgruder video?

The problem in the first place is needing white people to help us not be slaves. Any need for members of the group oppressing you to eventually feel like they should stop oppressing you...well that could take hundreds of years...lol 🤣

No lies told. If your vision for Black people overcoming involves white people doing anything other than they’ve been doing your vision is DOA.

Not to mention once Hispanics are the majority in the country they’re REALLY not gonna be interested in black people problems.

Tell you one thing, his cartoon show predicted things a decade before they happened and perfectly encapsulated concepts that affect the black community. All within a cartoon setting, he might be the smartest black man alive, as it relates to being black. Better take what he says as gospel, cause it damn sure has been up to this point.

still can't understand how folks be saying the man keeping them down
while they staying receiving the benefits from keeping they self down

He briefly mentioned this, but it might be it's own conversation... Percentage wise, how often are black people displayed in a positive light via media (movies/news/shows,etc)?

Is it different for other minorities?

Hard to say it’s different because the media we see is catered towards us from us curating it towards us so you’re not going to see other races nowhere near as much

Even when we're shown in a somewhat positive light, there's always fuckery afoot. We're always broken some kind of way despite the success we appear to have in tv shows and movies.

Other minorities barely even get representation, except maybe Latinos, who are usually gang members, drug dealers, or something else as unsavory.

Would’ve hit harder if it was said by Regina King while doing the voice of Huey Freeman.

He needs to do a collab of some sort

It's interesting seeing the message be less important than the messenger. If a Republican does this, he's a coon. If Tyrese does this it's "Why are we saying this in front of the world?". If the guy that made Boondocks does this... no real criticism so far.

Just an observation
