I have been debating whether to make a thread about this. Since the story is not going away, I said, why not.
Basically, South Africans looked at the name of one of the contestants in this year's Miss South Africa pageant and immediately realized that she's a) not of South African ancestry (though she seems to be SA-born) and b) probably Nigerian, and then all hell broke lose. The backlash was vicious. Not going to lie, I was surprised how bad it was. South Africans by and large don't seem like non-South Africans, especially Nigerians. The story just got crazier from there. Click the link at the end to get CNN's account of what happened.
