South African controversy about Nigerian beauty pageant contestant

I have been debating whether to make a thread about this. Since the story is not going away, I said, why not.

Basically, South Africans looked at the name of one of the contestants in this year's Miss South Africa pageant and immediately realized that she's a) not of South African ancestry (though she seems to be SA-born) and b) probably Nigerian, and then all hell broke lose. The backlash was vicious. Not going to lie, I was surprised how bad it was. South Africans by and large don't seem like non-South Africans, especially Nigerians. The story just got crazier from there. Click the link at the end to get CNN's account of what happened.

Wow
What a read
What's South Africans beef with Nigerians?

Maybe everything isn't covered but did they question the cacs and chinks presence in the competition did they ask about their families??

Is there uproar about a becky winning it or is that normal? I know they have a history with the whites there Idk if they're over that but to go at a chick born and raised there with so much Asian and Europeans in the competition is ludicrous.

Now they want to claim her to mess up her entry into the Nigerian competition or was the opinion on her nationality split within the populous?

Too bad Idk any south africans, I got questions.

Oh yea she's pretty as hell

From what I have seen, some SAs were mad when the white girl won after what they did to Chidimma.

Looks like most past winners have been white or "colored."

You’ll find that those living in closer proximity to yts or with much larger yt populations often adopt the Know Nothing Nativist archetype. Consider how rare xenophobic views come out of places like Ethiopia as opposed to somewhere like Kenya right beside it. You’re stepped on so much at home by the Cracka that you that you become Deebo to everyone but ‘them fools around the corner’.

Think about the level of anger you see from people in aggressively gentrified formerly Black neighborhoods of New York, Chicago or Oakland (no beef😂) who material circumstances have changed profoundly overnight from CoL..these be the niggas talmbow open concentration camps for migrants and how 12% of the Black population is taking all of our reparations and section 8 vouchers. It’s the same thing as niggas in Cape Town firebombing Nigerian papaya stands while the Gupta’s and Whites/Arabs abscond with like 20% of South Africa’s GDP in minerals back to India.

There’s a video where Julius Malema was talking about land that was taken by colonizers and a lady in the crowd jumped up and began to shout how the land is for Xhosa, or Zulu or whatever tf she was. Essentially she’d rather it remain in White supremacist hands before she sees it go to a person she’s lived beside for a millennia.

Hopefully the Chidi chick can bubble off the controversy.

had to look up.the demographics and yes sa is almost %82 black....the other sisters in the contest got weaves or perms..so i dont know

Ireland had a few black african athletes repping them at the Olympics too. Is there are a growing black Irish population or something? That's a bit surprising given the general perception in America of Irish people being among the most racist white people.

Different country but I went to Scotland back in the day and there were a couple black people there too, like born and raised, like I couldn't understand wtf they were saying even though it was english.

Them countries probably been had black people but for whatever reason they weren't on the front page like that or we were ignorant

Well, we all know the UK has black people, but I honestly thought they were all concentrated in England. I didn't think there were man if any in Ireland, Scotland, or Wales
