Cosby Show - Gold Standard. The show all Black sitcoms aspired to be. Ran the ratings game in the 80s, too. #1 for 5 out of 8 seasons.
Different World - The offspring of Cos. Inspired a whole generation of black kids to go to HBCUs.
Family Matters - The Chicago Equivalent of the Cosby Show…..until it went full Urkel. Zaniness and all, still a top tier quality show.
The Jeffersons - Legendary Show. First show to see black folk in a prosperous light, and not fighting to maintain in the ghetto.
Living Single - The perfected architect of the female sitcom. (I know Golden Girls did it first, but this turned that up) Still need them royalties from Friends for biting they whole style….hell, Girlfriends, too.
