I've never heard it stated like that. I'm curious about it tho.
From my understanding Snoop's style had lyrics and bars but, was struggling with song structure, and formatting for actual tracks.
At the time he was working on the album. The D.O.C. link was organized and they worked on the songs together. But I've never heard he just flat out gave him written material.

Well, Will did admit to purposely trying to sound like Rakim on Summertime, so sounding like Rakim isn't really proof of anything for Will.
I heard Summertime rumors but Rakim said he didn’t write that.
Yeah think I was getting the two tracks confused...
Also I remember on Combat Jack's podcast like 10 or more years ago (which is wild) an episode but I cant remember which one but it was one with few dudes on like Mos Def, Common, Consequence or something, annoying I cant remember the names properly and they talked about working on Will's music... Just tried scanning Combat's episodes but cant find it now...
Royce and Dre's 'The Message' always stuck out as it was such a personal track...
