Mac Millers overdose was heavy because his album had just recently been released and it was his best work

None have made me cry, but a few have fucked up my mood when I heard of them.
J Dilla - I was young. I think I was 14, maybe 15. I had learned how to download full albums like a year or two prior and was really beginning to dive deep into indie hip hop. Learned about stones throw records through discovering the lootpack album. Was a big fan of Madlib at that point and one of my friends in school kept telling me to check out the jaylib album and I'd probably really like Dilla being a fan of madlib. Downloaded it and really dug it. Learned as much as I could about dilla which brought me to slum village. I was familiar with SV, but the current lineup was T3 and Elzhi and I had no idea dilla was in the original line up and produced their first couple albums. Ended up loving them. Friend in school kept hyping up that dilla had a new album coming out (donuts) and we were waiting for it. Album dropped and we talked about it for the next 3 days. On that 3rd day it was announced that dilla had died. I didn't even know he was sick.
