The topic was about PASS, which is a scholarship fund for students attending the worst schools in the state. You said "Yeah when I saw this was for private schools I immediately thought why not set this up for public schools instead

I don't follow.

I am from Philadelphia. The issues plaguing the public education here are varied, some financial (asbestos, lack of air conditioning, facilities failing) and some are absolutely systemic. Administrators continued to be hired and pay raises and bonuses continue to be given out despite enrollment being down. Educational attainment is still in the pits. Those students at the worst of the worst schools are in desperate need of help now, not 10 years from now when they are in their 20s and no longer students.

As a short term answer to the issue, giving those families the option of private school seems reasonable to me. We are capable of this AND working to fix the long-term issues with public education. Again, PASS is for the students attending the bottom 15% of schools. Governor Shapiro supports this. If the anti-Public education goons try to take it a step further, we can address that then. But for now, those kids need help.
 
I think this is a good move

Donating to private schools makes sense. I went to private school in 7th and 8th grade and attended public school in elementary and high school. Private schools offer a better education. Also, the students themselves in private schools are cut from a different cloth than public school students. Private school students actually do their homework and do not hang out in the parking lot smoking weed all day. When I was in public high school we didn't get assigned any homework, all we had to do is show up for class, but you could cut class if you wanted. In private school you cannot cut class.

It would be a waste to give that money to public schools. The students in private schools will make better use of the funds.

Listen to people who have been sounding the alarm for decades...

This is goes in tandem with budget slashes that alaay impact education everywhere especially in the biggest cities,, corporate interest an unaccountability are just two of the ingredients in this cocktail
