He came from a weak draft imo. Coming out of Duke, I didn't think he would be a great NBA player. His defense was probably going to be the one thing that would carry in the NBA
 
The thing is you’re not looking to draft a high level role player at 6. I’ve seen players get called busts despite having decent point per game averages or assists, is it different because he was great defensively?
 
Reasons why he went so high is 1)He went to Duke, 2)he was considered a winner, and 3)draft prospects, particularly at the wing, were not good at all. I think most scouts at the time knew he wasn't going to be anything more than a role player.
 
As much as I thought he was a good player in Duke nothing about him made me think he’d be a force in the NBA. There’s nothing wrong with that. Dude was a bit player for two title teams & won a NCAA title. I like to have that.
