At that time west coast hip hop was dominating the scene, then fall of 93 Wu Tang dropped, then it was Nas turn a few months later

Album had a lot of hype, pressure and lived up to it!

Helped by the immaculate and vivid bars from Nasty Nas, the sole legendary guest feature by AZ and them

This album has stood the test of time. High historical importance. The Thriller of rap albums. By the way, It ain't Hard to Tell sample is Human Nature from which album?? Oh that's right, Thriller

Oh and....

the 2nd verse on Memory Lane>>>>>>>>>

For me it's literally Queensbridge on audio format. Whether he did it, heard it, lived it, or witnessed it from his folks pad, retold the in and outs of his hood better than anyone I ever heard. It's helps that I was young, impressionable, and obsessed with NY rap that the time. The lyrics are A1 on every track. The production is A1 for every bar.

He is of the greatest orators of all time. I'm glad to have witnessed it and for him to be apart of my generation.

We made to 30th anniversary, see yall at the 35th one

My favorite hip hop album. So many songs to choose from. But Memory Lane 1a especially the second verse 🔥🔥🔥. New York State of Mind 1b .

LYRICAL

I sip the Dom P, watching Gandhi 'til I'm charged
Then writing in my book of rhymes, all the words past the margin
To hold the mic I'm throbbin', mechanical movement
Understandable smooth shit that murderers move with
The thief's theme, play me at night, they won't act right
The fiend of hip-hop has got me stuck like a crack pipe
The mind activation, react like I'm facin' time like
Pappy Mason, with pens I'm embracin'
Wipe the sweat off my dome, spit the phlegm on the streets
Suede Timb's on my feets makes my cipher complete
Whether crusing in a Sikh's cab, or Montero Jeep
I can't call it, the beats make me fallin' asleep
I keep falling, but never falling six feet deep
I'm out for presidents to represent me (say what?)
I'm out for presidents to represent me (say what?)
I'm out for dead presidents to represent me
