I'm gonna do these in 5 year increments.

Who were the "Big 3" from 85-89?

To anyone saying BDK, especially in comparison to Cole... his first two albums and first 5 years were phenomenal, but he didn't have the commercial longevity Cole or anyone else mentioned here had. LL and KRS had a decade plus of notoriety before their star fizzled out. BDK did Playgirl (no Diddy at me knowing that), smashed Madonna and pretty much disappeared from the mainstream.

He may have faded out of the mainstream but still dropped heat and top tier rappers like Jay and Busta on his albums, plus is still spitting heat today...

My favourite Kane albums are 'Long Live The Kane' (1988)... Then 'Daddy's Home' (1994) and 'Veteranz Day' (1998)...

Looking at the releases I would say

LL
Rakim
Kane

Though Schoolly D, Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff, NWA, P.E, Run DMC and Ice T were pretty consistent those years...
