OUT NOW Future & Metro Boomin - We Don't Trust You

you can say this about a lot of fanbases

Kendrick's fans are the only ones that get overly sensitive about criticism of his music. They're like if Nas fans from the late 90's early 2000's only in the internet age.

The crazy part is that eventually, Nas fans realized that there was no need to get sensitive about people coming for your Goat. If he is who you say he is then he'll still be the at the end of the day and look at Nas now. My nigga is in his 2nd Childhood and his claim as the Goat is looking as string as it's ever been in 2024.

I think Kendrick fans have a problem admitting that his music isn't some god level rap gospel like they think that it is. Sure the album was introspective but that doesn't mean that people should or will like it as much as For All The Dogs or The Offseason.

It's his worst album imo, I won't argue that.

I'm more so talking about the content and approach of the album. Same when Cole made "For Your Eyez Only", he wasn't on that "im the best MC" shit like he's been for the past few years.

I think Kendrick's gunning for the throne this time around.

Yeah but I don't think Cole fans were getting offended if people didn't like For Your Eyez Only the same way Kendrick fans go very hard for any project that he is on.

Another thing that people don't want to admit is that Kendrick has the black intellectual market in a choke hold and a lot of those people who are very loud love to over extend how good Kendrick's music is and they love to punch down on other artist which makes their whole approach look tacky.

You won't find may of the black intellectual types that always prop up Kendrick without throwing a shot at Drake when it's completely unnecessary especially considering the style of music is not very similar.

I just think that there's a very large segment of Kendrick fans that love to punch down anytime he puts something out and they try to gate keep Kendrick's music like in a way to makes people feel like if you don't like and understand Kendrick's music then you're just not on a high enough level to understand and appreciate real rap. Like, these niggas be forgetting that Nas made Ochi Wally. It's music. Stop trying to gatekeep what people should or shouldn't consider high level rap.

That's the Kendrick situation from my POV.
