There are a few observations I make any time these convos get brought up.
First, the debate around who is better when it comes to the best of the best is really dumb. Kobe and Bron were both at like the top 1% of the top 1%. When a player is that good, the amount where one is better than the other is all pretty much none measurable.
Second, the goat debate and whose was the best debate should be treated as two different things. Basketball is a team sport and not just the 15 man roster, but we're talking about coaching, training staff, ownership, GM etc. The better player can end up having less career accomplishments depending on the team they got drafted too or traded too and decided going too.
Third, former players don't sit and watch basketball like us fans do. I'm sure some of them do, but for the most part former players enjoy talking about the game more than watching the game, so their analysis around this and most other shit is usually garbage.
