Bruh, all that's irrelevant. Like 70% of the country wants stricter gun laws. Literally, the only reasons that isn't happening now is because 1) A lot of the politicians in Congress now are on the NRA payroll and 2) A lot of them are either too busy pandering to the gun nuts or too afraid of what the gun nuts might do to take a strong action.

No, creating a paradigm shift in this country when it comes to gun ownership won't be easy, but it's not impossible. The whole "it's too hard" argument is dumb though, especially when it typically comes from the very people that are making this issue hard.

It’s not irrelevant at all. The first thing you did was mention how other countries have x, y, and z as if those countries are apples to apples with the United States. They aren’t. So you can’t compare the policies of other countries and what they were able to achieve with regards to gun control when they don’t have scale that we do.

Amongst many of these threads, I’ve provided suggestions that add to what I’d consider common sense gun control. I’m not against legislation that makes it tougher to obtain firearms. I’m not one of the people who are saying “do NOTHING” about this issue. I never said it would be “impossible” to create a paradigm shift when it comes to gun ownership in this country and I never made an “it’s too hard” argument for why change can’t happen.

Fuck alladat... Do y'all honestly think the guns these dudes had were legit in the first place???

It ain’t about what I think. It’s about what it says:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Yeah, this what I figured. Alot of people who quote the 2nd amendment dont even take the time to attempt to understand it. The found fathers were alot of things. They were slavers, elitists but above else, they were historians. They wrote the constitution and the bill of rights in order to avoid all the pit falls of european civilization. They studied europe going back to greece and did not want repeat the same mistakes. The 2nd amendment was not written for some fat white dude to walk around armed to the teeth nor was it written with the idea to over-throw a tyrannical government. Thats NRA\conservative propaganda.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

They key to the 2nd amendment is here -------------------->>>A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State

NOT HERE ------------------------->>> the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

The reason for that is because they did not want a national standing army during peace time because in the past, armies of european countries would overthrow the government through military coups. Instead of a standing army they wanted decentralized state militias under the regulation of state governors. The idea was if military personnel needed to be called up, the governors would call up the militias in order to protect the country.

That idea was an epic fail. The britts came down from Canada and got as far as Washington dc and burned the white house down in 1812. Every since then, the country has had a standing military essentially making the 2nd amendment defunct.

Also, the 2nd amendment was edited from free country to free state because Patrick Henry who was the largest slave holder in Virginia was concerned that a president elected from up north would call up the militias in attempt to free slaves because the state militias also acted as slave patrols.

Slavery has been abolished, so that defeats the 2nd purpose of the 2nd amendment.

The meaning of the 2nd amendment has been perverted by the NRA and the gun lobby for the sole purpose of putting more firearms in circulation in order to make more money.

Countries don't have to be apples to apples to take inspiration from what they did. I'm not suggesting that we look at Norway and do exactly what they did. However, if there is something they've had great success with, then we should be looking into trying to adapt it if possible. The problem is we never even get to that point because we have to deal with people don't really want to do anything.

Also, I wasn't including you in the gun nut group, but you are committed to gun ownership, and at the end of the day people who that think gun ownership is some infallible requirement are part of the problem whether they are reasonable or not.

Aye man, that’s what you think.

That’s cool.

Good thing I didn’t care to ask you what you thought and your interpretation.

What I think and feel have nothing to do with what I typed. Its not an interpretation. Its historical fact.

Go read Thomas Jefferson's correspondence through letters with James Madison (who wrote the constitution). Read Patrick Henry's speech at the Virginia convention.

James Madison took notes and kept the receipts. Its not interpretation, its fact.

Aye my man, you asked me what I thought and I responded to you with the exact quote of the 2nd amendment.

I didn’t tell you what I think at all.

You gave me an interpretation of the amendment and though I appreciate it, it was unwarranted.

But props
