Gun crime is on the rise there despite a complete ban on citizens owning guns!

Anecdotal. Additionally, of the mass shootings in California that has occurred this year only 1 have been gang-related or suspected to be gang-related. Not sure if them being gang-related makes them any less a mass-shooting, tbh.

The U.K. has one of the world's lowest gun death rates in the world. The U.S. has one that is like 99 times greater. Additionally, they don't have a ban on all firearms. You can still own shotguns and rifles if you go through hoops. Northern Ireland has an even less-restrictive gun law setup compared to the rest of the U.K. where handguns are allowed in certain calibers.

Anecdotal??? Maybe look up how that word is used first.

While the UK may have low numbers, that doesn't negate the fact that gun violence is on the rise there. And we ain't talking rifles either: it's the very much banned handguns. IIRC, back in The IC that broad Shadyteam even posted handguns that supposedly don't exist in the UK.

Let us also look at the numbers post. It states that in 2021 there were 570 gun related offenses and in 2022 there were 850 (gun offenses include robbery, burglary, etc.). In the majority of these instances, the gun isn't used. There were 2262 actual shootings in Philadelphia alone in 2022.

I'd like to ask, though, what exactly does it matter? They still have less gun death than we do by a massive, and I do mean massive, margin. Their laws keep their numbers low relative to ours. That is the point.

I just told you that handguns can be had in the U.K. Even rifles. Just in Northern Ireland.

Consider this a reality check: My view on this subject came from reading about each of the last cases, which, had YOU done that, you would see the pattern emerge: Nearly every school shooter going back to Columbine had mental health concerns as well as prior run-ins with law enforcement. The republican talking point is surface level, I came to my conclusion by going far deeper which is what I often do. In case you don't remember, I'm the cat that used to write long ass, fact checked and cross referenced posts on subjects like this. I decided to tone that down a couple of years ago 'cause I really don't have time to do it and I realized that most of y'all refuse to read that shit 'cause you'd rather stick to whatever you believe.

See, this is where your bias for being able to keep your toys is on full display. If you say anything other than “yes that would be worth it”, then you’re ok with the killings as long as you keep yours. And that’s your hard truth.
