Battle raps have always been written. It was extremely rare that somebody went into a battle with no written rhymes. Listen to any rapper and when they talk about "freestyling" growing up or having battles they were spitting written rhymes they memorized. To me that don't take away from anything at all. Still shows a talent and skill not many can master.

Yeah the entire concept of battle rap is to show you're better than your opponent. And you don't do that by being positive. It's an inherently disrespectful aspect of the artform
