CREED III

Creed's Crushing Comeback

PRAISE: Michael B Jordan directs for the first time for Creed III in a story about Adonis Creed thriving in his career and family life. When Damian, a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy resurfaces after serving time in prison, he's eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring.

Jordan and writers Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin have crafted a very effective film by not only giving the film a great foundation about family and friendship but what the past can do.Propel you forward or haunt you. The chemistry between Jordan and Tessa Thompson is still great. Mila Davis Kent brings great charm to the film as their daughter Amara. Wood Harris and Phylicia Rashad bring their A game.Jonathan Majors once again brings his big time presence to the big screen. His portrayal of Damian is like putting a pot of water on simmer that you know will eventually boil over. Jordan's Adonis knows there's something off about Damian coming back into his life but he let's it go welcoming him back in and I thought this set up was well done for the weighty and intense turns that happen. As a Director Jordan excels when he builds moments to a certain height for an audience to be moved by them and take in its grandeur. The fight scenes are choreographed extremely well.

PROBLEMS: The film definitely leans on some basic tropes at times and there are some very predictable moments.

Scream VI

Neglectful Nightmare

PRAISE: With the absence of Neve Campbell and the last Scream movie being Mediocre I wasn't really interested in this sixth film but with the setting being in New York I had to see what part the city that never sleeps would play in the movie...but I will get to that later.
The story:Four survivors of the Ghostface murders leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh start in New York City. However, they soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when a new killer embarks on a bloody rampage.
I admire the casts commitment to the film and the likely taxing ,and blood soaked action sequences. I enjoyed the boldness of the killer it added to the complete insanity of the character. The movie presents a couple of unique and new paths. I appreciated the quick deletion of a character. There is a ton of fan service that is presented in various ways that I enjoyed. Nice nods to horror and Sci Fi films.
The witty taunts of the killer are still fun to listen too.
Some very cool kills are scattered throughout the movie.

PROBLEMS: Where was New York in this movie aside from 2 scenes? Jason Takes Manhattan made better use of using NYC as a backdrop. There are a couple of predictable moments. There's a been there done that cheesey feel throughout the film. Some absurdity after people are seemingly gutted to the extreme by the killer.
I likely won't see the next Scream film in theaters just wait for streaming and even when it drops on a service I probably won't be hyped to see it.

Not a Dino Bore

PRAISE: The stories of other civilizations ,in other universe's existing before human life on Earth have always interested me so there were already portions of this movie about A pilot Mills (Adam Driver) experiencing a catastrophic crash quickly discovers he's actually stranded on Earth…65 million years ago already appealed to me.
Driver and actress Ariana Greenblatt have enough charm and talent to pull off this almost two person show.
Directors Scott Beck, Bryan Woods keep things moving for the most part. There are some great action sequences and come on who doesn't love dinosaurs. The SFX are pretty sharp for the most part and I did like some of the technology used by the characters in the movie.

PROBLEMS: At times the movie is a bit basic and lackluster. A scene that was supposed to be serious got unintentional laughs from me. A coincidence felt tacked on and forced towards the end of the movie. I'm shocked the film didn't go down a couple of different paths to make it more involving.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Less Lightning

PRAISE: I have been trying to remember if Captain Marvel/Shazam still had the mind of a pre teen/teenager in the animated shows and comics like he does in these recent films which I find kind of annoying. I'm glad some portions of this movie focused on the character growing up because that's exactly what I wanted him to do.
Ok I was amused by some of the jokes in the film and the dramatic moments were effective. I thought Rachel Zegler was a great and charming addition to the cast. I thought the villains Kalypso and Hespera portrayed by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu,were ok it was their display of various powers that impressed me.Theres some great SFX work, some of which reminded me of the old Ray Harryhausen
movies.

PROBLEMS: The first movie had this great and unexpected balance of darkness and humor and I felt this movie was lacking that. It's as if the writers and Director said let's play up the silliness and childishness. I say why ignore most of what made the first film very good? Some of the movie is eye rolling silly making characters look foolish and then some. Zachary Levi turns in a copy and paste performance. There is a way to play this character ,a little over confident and arrogant. Talking down to a villain sarcastically. In this Billy Batson is more mature than Shazam. There is a scene that would have been far more effective with especially what it's linked to but unfortunately someone at the WB decided to spoil it in the TV ads. One of the biggest ad fails ever.

Dune: Part 1 - visually one of the best films I've seen in years... I wanted to watch the David Lynch film before this but I was just free one night and indulged in this ... 4/5

U. S. Marshalls - good ol' 90s action flick... Tommy Lee Jones, Wes Snipes and R. Downey Jr... Watching again after many years was refreshing... 4/5

The Suicide Squad - the reboot... Far better movie than the Will Smith led movie. Better script, CGI and what a hell of a monster starfish! I was squirmish watching that... I waited till the credits to see any more highlights of a possible sequel as usual ...5/5

TUBI HOOD MOVIE QUICK REVIEWS

FIRST and most Importantly the most consistently attractive women in these movies are : Cierra Smith,Shelby Leigh,Jayda Jones and last but not in any way least Mena Monroe

Ultimate Betrayal : not even sure if I can call this a movie because it was only an hour but it was highly entertaining with some great twists and funny dialog.

He Played Me : Starts slow but picks up and it was very entertaining Alphonso Settles was very funny in this as a guy juggling 2 wives and a girlfriend. The main character in the movie has absolutely no logic and reason to her but hopefully she will get some sense in He Played Me 2

Parental Discretion Advised: I was happy to see they actually put some money into this one. The moves some characters made were questionable to say the least but this was still an enjoyable watch. They try to tack on a message at the end but I felt it was kind of one sided when I think about what occurred in the movie .

Yeah, Tubi that thang.

I was coppin' tons of movies off there every weekend before they blocked this country from accessing they movies/shows. Now I gotta grab a VPN for em.

The entire special was about the Will Smith/Chris Rock slap. An entire hour :foh5:

The premise was cool trying to tie his relationship with all parties involved but nah bruh. More importantly, he has to learn how to punch and keep it moving. He'll drag a joke that was moderately funny for about 3 mins to where it's a bad joke now.

John Wick : Chapter 4

Wick's Wrath

PRAISE : In this fourth chapter in the book of John Wick the price on his head is increasing, so legendary hit man John Wick takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Japan to Berlin.
High praise to Keanu Reeves who gives his all in incredibly choreographed and relentless action sequences. Kudos to the cast including Basil Iwanyk; Erica Lee; Chad Stahelski · Shamier Anderson. Donnie Yen · Bill Skarsgård · Laurence Fishburne · Hiroyuki Sanada the beautiful Rina Sawayama and the late great Lance Reddick.
I liked that the characters are asking the same questions and coming to the same realizations as the audiences are for the John Wick movies.
The action sequences and fight scenes are so much fun ,thrilling and plentiful that even the thirstiest action fans thirst should be quenched.
There is a unique style the choreographers get to play with in the fight scenes that I really enjoyed watching. The cinema photography is great as it and the sets seems to embrace the characters as they fight it out.
About 45 minutes in I said to myself how are they going to do this so it doesn't become repetitive and man oh man do they come up with some great stuff.

PROBLEMS : The acting is a bit shallow at times. A couple of story threads go right down predictable paths. Of course portions of the action sequences are over the top in either what's occurring in them and really how much can the HUMAN body endure ?!?
