The young people of today and the young minded older people of today are easy to understand when you look at them critical of Micheal Jordan, Magic, Bird, Barkley, and other players of that time. Most of us that were around to witness those men play in real time. Witnessed and know the impact of something happening that hadn’t happened before. What it meant and what it felt like.
But then you get these kids that rest on the shoulders of 3 generations beyond the generation we witness, and what was magic and special then, is only average to them. But they didn’t live in a time when it didn’t exist. So they don’t have the empirical evidence to not shit on it, or question it. Right?
So when you get guys like this, or people like Kayne, or anyone that shits on black historical figures. They didn’t grow up in a time where a man not much older than you, could walk to you in a town square with everyone around you. Spit in your face, call you a nigger and dare you to do something about it.
They didn’t grow up in a time where the options for response was death, maiming, lynching, and burning down your mother’s house. They didn’t live with the weight, of what those historical figures lived with. They live with the aftermath.
And idiotically and arrogantly believe they would do better. But look at their lives, where do they show a thimbal of the courage it was required to be the people they mock.
Harriet Tubman lived at a time where it was ok to feed black children to alligators and she still moved around gangster. Kanye don’t come out his house without a security guard.
The notion that any of these people that are critical of them, could hold a candle to them is ridiculous and is the type shit that could only come about because of the times they were given is from the times those people had to pay the price for.
