So the Dearborn Police has a "first responder" drone unit. I never knew Dearborn to have crime that would even require some shit like this. I could see Detroit or some of the meth riddled downriver communities, but not Dearborn.
Dearborn police say two suspects were taken into custody after being caught in the act of trying to steal a Kia from the Foreman Mills parking lot, thanks to a combination of real-time technology and rapid response.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded April 10 when a Flock License Plate Reader alerted officers to a stolen vehicle in the area of Ford Road and Southfield Freeway.
Within seconds, the department’s Drone First Responder unit deployed a Skydio police drone, giving officers an aerial view of the scene. At the same time, police accessed live video through their Real Time Information Center, powered by Axon Fusus, allowing them to monitor the situation as it happened.
Investigators say officers quickly moved in and arrested two suspects while they were actively attempting to steal another vehicle in the Foreman Mills parking lot. No injuries were reported.
Police say the incident highlights how new technology is helping officers identify crimes in real time, track suspects faster, and respond more safely.
