COMMUNITY Men's Health Thread... Absolutely NO TROLLING

I need to know what to look for as well. I saw a therapist a few years back, but I stopped after the first three sessions because it felt like they were saying everything I already said to myself in my mind, so it just frustrated more. Now I'm not very open to seeing a therapist if the idea is that I just want someone to hear me.

What makes the right therapist the "right therapist"?

Like what do you need to look for to even make sure they're right for you?

For me it was somebody who not only could actually listen but also challenge me and flat out tell me when I'm wrong on how I view or approach certain things. Luckily I have a sort of inside track because I'm actually married to a therapist so I knew what to look for off top to find a good one. But it's just finding somebody who isn't just a sounding board but will also challenge how you approach things for yourself and those around you. Depending on the reason you're starting determines the type of therapist that you click with. For what I needed when I first started a year and a half ago I managed to find it.

For me, it was a Bruh that was around my age, grew up in Detroit, went to the same university I went to at the same time (we ran in different circles so our paths never crossed), lived in Phoenix, and relocated to Vegas. Mans knew some of the shit I was dealing with and could really relate to my issues. Conversations were almost like sittin off with the homies having those deep ass talks.

Aint never been put to sleep before and theres some shit in the back of my head like damn what if I dont wake up. Prolly overthinking and being paranoid but I dont like this shit 😕

I had to be put to sleep for hernia surgery. Honestly didn’t think twice about being put to sleep lol. They hit me with the anesthesia and I don’t even remember going out. Just remember waking up woozy was hell but feeling fine.

At least until that shit wore off and the pain came in like a flood, lol. Was popping pills for a few days which helped.

You’ll be cool bro

The cool thing about it is you gonna be talking to them while they tell you to count down from 100 or whatever and by the time you get to 94 you gonna wake up in a hospital bed hours later

Don’t sweat it man

@Inori

“The risk of dying from anesthesia is now very low, estimated at about 1 in 100,000 to 200,000 cases. Risk is less than 1 in a million for healthy patients having routine procedures”

You’ll be fine you big pussy

Nah you’ll be good. I did wake up halfway through and saw the instruments in my stomach and felt the tugging and pulling in my abdomen. Tried to tell them but it was like I was in sleep paralysis. I was screaming in my head but no one could hear me.

Lmao you SO lucky I gotta be serious

This is the opportunity of a lifetime

You’ll be fine man don’t worry about it and don’t stress yourself out worrying. It’s such a simple, easy thing

The person administering it is a pro who went to school and been doing this for years

Grab some M&Ms at the hospital when you’re resting
