Video Jay-Z Breaks His Silence—“We Played Enough Defense, 2026 is All Offense”

I'm not even a Jay fan ... I'm sure that's been known here and the IC for ages

But what I found out is a whole lotta Jigga warriors and normal hip-hop fans don't know who Shawn Carter is as an individual...

Mans was a hustler FIRST before an artiste ... Rap was a hobby for him... It wasn't his main calling per say

He decided to become a recording artiste due to a twist of fate... He was out of the country (late 80s) when his mans was nabbed by the feds

He said break dancing, graffiti, and djing are dead. Then he says maybe it’s time to let battle rap die too….

I don’t agree with that… Instead of letting it die how about trying to breathe new life into it!

Niggas came along and got rich and killed hip hop in the process…

Those are niche things now anyway. Battle rap has a lane and the other stuff

Y'all still in here hating on the good brother Jay????

I remember when niggas were writing dissertation papers about this dude when that D.O.A video came out when he had the scene of him getting his haircut at the end "Man that shit was gangsta, only hov can do that, boss move" saying shit like that...nigga shut up and go get your haircut...lol

Man that was the sign of him, being born again...or some stupid shit...cutting his hair signify he's a new him...or when that nigga was talkin bout art, had niggas trying to cop artwork for their one bedroom apartment

Fuck niggas man, Go have a beer with your daddy man...that's the man who need flowers...

Real shit at the bold

Break dancing will never come back. Dances come and go all the time. Break dancing pillar is now just Dancing.

Graffiti- i mean that was more of a NYC thing. Other places did it but it was heavy in NYC. Now that rap has gone global, the spot light is not there anymore.

Djing - technology pretty much killed the vinyl age. Also djs want to be producers and mcs. Having a crate full of vinyl is annoying. Now djs have all the music they need at their finger tips. You will be hard pressed to get them to go back.

Tell me, how can anyone bring these things back? That's like saying we should bring back 8bit games like the og Nintendo. Why? You stay stuck in the past then time will past you. The orginal foundations have evolved. Graffiti is now replaced with fashion.

For me, nothing tops them championing the Nets going to brooklyn, cuz they thought he owned the team. I foolishly tried to post research showing him and the owner were scamming black people to get the stadium built, and got my back kicked in for posting evidence. They were legit angry and calling me a hater.

That was legit my first personal experience with Stan culture

Break dancing is very much alive. Red Bull has done more to keep it alive than a lot of people in hip hop.

Graffiti artists are literally all over the world. Now its not centered around rap.

A lil effort from from people(or a person) with deep pockets could easily help kick start those 2 in the US.

Djing is mainly an underground thing now, but competitions still go on

People still breakdance 🤷🏽‍♂️
Graffiti is worldwide
Djing doesnt have to be limited to just spinning vinyl. You still gotta be able to rock a crowd

That is niche stuff. Break dancing will never be as big as it was. The young dont even dance in clubs no more. The fact that it is only seen in competitions proves my point.
Kids aint doing that and dont care about it.

Graffiti is for inner cities. Rap grew out of inner cities.

Jay was never associated with Graffiti and break dancing (or dancing for that matter) through out his whole career. Why would he start now?

Djing is still around but just evolved.
The Break dancing pilar is now just dancing.

All these pillars were created in NYC. Rap has moved out of NYC.

People break dance in competitions. I should have said it is not as big as it was.

Never said djing left. It evolved.
Graffiti is bigger in cities but sure. It still around. Why are rappers not really talking about it anymore?

I'll take back what I said about graffiti. Art is art.

But if yall want break dancing to be around, when was the last time you actually watched a competition?
