See I got questions now about Viltrum. So did they kill half their planet themselves 1st then the virus hit the rest? Or was it just the virus that wiped most of them out?

They were lead by an emperor and followed/expanded his ideology until his assassination. After his death they had a purge/civil war, then as they went forward their numbers recovered and entered the billions before the virus nearly killed them all.
