If The Writers & Directors Are White, Is It A Black Show/Movie?

Yeah, but David Simon was entrenched with the real people on which the Wire was based. That's why his characters came off so authentic. If a writer or a director is going to Black people for the inspiration and research for a show, then I think you have to say its black at its foundation. I mean you look in the WNBA. They got some male coaches. Those are still women's BBall teams.

This is where it matters.

It's a difference between David Simon spending years in a field interacting with real people who influenced the characters in telling a story about how corruption in the city he worked in is all connected.
.
Vs

Some white dudes making fun of black stereotypes because it's funny to them

James Patterson is white as shit. But Alex Cross is one of the better black characters in literature.

They literally had this debate about the wire on this podcast. To the point where they called up an actor on the show and asked him his opinion on it.

Pootie Tang, the best black movie of all time was written by Louis CK
